NEW RED DWARF?!

i love all the music in red dwarf, because it’s so complex for such a silly show. they just let howard goodall go wild in the booth

like this is one of my favourite bits of music and it just shows up randomly! another one i love is the music in ‘stoke me a clipper’ when the ace rimmer graveyard is shown

So I decided one day “Hey, I’m obsessed with these two franchises so why not mix them both”.

So yeah… I made Arnold J Rimmer into a new Pokemon trainer (most likely in the Galar region since it’s based in the UK). I’ll try to explain his team (though if anyone has any better suggestions, please let me know):

1) Morpeko - His ‘starter’ Pokemon (he’s had it since he was a kid - based on the lemming he had as a kid in the series). I imagine Rimmer wouldn’t have it out of the Pokeball much since it’s a ‘Full Time Bastard’ in his eyes. Mainly causing trouble for him (like any small mammal would).

2) Slackof - The first Pokemon he catched after his journey began. He was egged on to do so by Lister when he talked about how strong Slaking was (I mean, it’s stronger than most Pokemon ffs). Sadly, Rimmer is not aware of its pretty terrible ability.

3) Lipard - Cat in this universe. It originally belonged to Lister after one of his Pokemon had an egg (No clue what Frankenstein would be atm) but gave it to Rimmer upon hearing on his ‘forced vacation’. If I decide to have Lister join him as a travel companion, Cat will most likely swap between the two.

4) Porygon - Kryten in this universe. No idea if they will stay a Pokemon or somehow find a more human-like body to become a trainer themselves but can decide that later down the line.

5) Servine - Defiantly a Pokemon Rimmer was (eventually) able to catch themselves. I can imagine the Pokemon crossing paths with Rimmer a few times as a Snivy and Rimmer catches it not long after it evolves. Probably the more battle-driven on his team and smug as hell about it.

No idea for any other Pokemon Rimmer (or anyone else in the show) would have atm. As said before, if anyone has any ideas, I’d love to hear them. :)

Really random idea that would never happen like but wouldn't it be really wholesome if the Red Dwarf guys did a version of Tongue Tied at the age they are now for Comic Relief or something

The more I think about Kryten's head situation the more confused I get.

We know he has one, because he's going to silicon heaven some day, but what I mean is where is his mind? Spare heads have distinct personalities and brains, but when Kryten changes his head he's still Kryten, right? Wouldn't that make what makes him essentially "HIM" have to be located in the body in order to override the spare's personality? Kryten doesn't seem too bothered about having to get new heads.

The thought of there being a dormant spare head personality inside Kryten is horrifying. Spare head 27 watching a body use a brain that it can no longer control, just waiting for the day that Lister decides to put ketchup on lobster again.

Not sure if anyone's made a post like this before but Red dwarf really is the show of all time

It's got a genderswap episode, its got a bodyswap episode, it's got multiple clone episodes, plenty of alternate universes and a simply iconic musical number despite the fact that its not a musical show by any means

theres a trans computer, two counts of mpreg, insane levels of homosexual behavior and a robot who goes through a midlife crisis

it's got the most repressed man in existence who also happens to be dead, literally the most optimistic last human alive (seriously, how is he so positive all the time) and a dude with frankly the best wardrobe ever who also happens to be literally a cat

Theres dodgy BBC budget practical effects (which I love), copious moments which are insane in and out of context, sets that are held together with blu tac and a cult following that could probably once destroy anything

It's got that season which not many people like to talk about (cough 8, cough), one of the creators left halfway through and they've all been doing It for over 35 years and are still going somehow

God I love it so much, it really is the show of all time
